Stem-mastering is when you have already done the mix but need that little extra than what is possible to do in a 2-track mastering. You choose how to divide the stems but usually it’s a good idea to divide the stems in:

Kick drum
Snare drum
HiHat, toms, cymbals, perc etc.
Bass
Keys
Lead synth
Guitars
Effects
Lead vocal
Background vocals
